    • Giant pandas can live up to 20 years old in the wild
    • Male pandas can weigh up to 350 lb, with female pandas slightly less
    • Their diet consists almost exclusively of bamboo
    • Unlike most animals, Giant Pandas don’t set up established dens
    • So-called ‘Panda diplomacy’ was very big in the past, with China providing pandas to countries like Japan and the US on a loan basis
    • As few as 1,600 giant pandas remain in the wild today
    • In 2006 there were over 40 panda reserves in China
    • Pandas cost 5 times more than elephants, the next most expensive animal, to keep in zoos
